Tia Gipson, a Minden native and 1998 graduate of Minden High School, was recently named Chief Executive Officer of Independence Heights Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center, in Houston. The mission of the organization is to provide quality, affordable health care to all regardless of their ability to pay.
She earned her Bachelors and Master degrees from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She began her career in healthcare in 2002 and has gained experience in mental health, public health, and community health programming and management.
She also is a grant writer, quality improvement trainer and is part-time faculty with the University of Phoenix College of Nursing and Health Care Administration.
Gibson has worked in various settings within health care including nonprofit and government hospitals, ambulatory care including clinics, social service agencies, and nonprofit health related advocacy and education organizations.
Her passion within health care has been the management, facilitation, measurement, and enhancement of systematic community health improvement efforts.
She is the daughter of Larry Gipson owner of Harris Corner in Minden and Brenda Gipson of Jackson, MS.
