Lakeside drops pair of district games

The Lakeside Warriors dropped a pair of district games over the weekend, 59-34 to Homer on Friday, and 50-44 to Lake Providence on Saturday.

"We stayed with Homer pretty well in the first half," Lakeside head coach Jason Gould said. "We were only down by 10 at the half, but we got dominated in the second half. The lack of inside scoring really hurt us."

Deandre Shehee led Lakeside with 15 points, including four three-pointers, and Davian Whiting had seven. Darryl Moore added six points.

Against Lake Providence, the Warriors were out-scored 20-13 in the second quarter, which led to their 50-44 loss.

"That gave them all the confidence and momentum they needed," Gould said. "And it hurt us that we missed eight free throws."

Shehee led the team with three three-pointers and 11 points and Whiting added 10 (two three-pointers). Nyles Moore had eight points and nine rebounds and Maurice Moore added seven points and eight rebounds.

"Tuesday is our last game," Gould said. "We play Lakeside and we are starting a new tradition called, 'The Battle for the Paddle'." It's a paddle that represents Dorcheat separating our communities. It will have Doyline colors and Lakeside on the other. The winning team will get to take it home."
