Cicadas hatched today, conceived during Clinton Era

Seventeen years ago, I became grandfather to twins, Joseph and Hannah. They just finished high school and are ready for what their young adult lives offer.

About the time we were rejoicing in the birth of the twins, a cicada made a slit in a branch on a tree in my yard, deposited eggs that hatched in a few weeks and the larvae dropped to the ground where they burrowed to begin a very strange life cycle.
