Webster "Gene" Allen was born on March 27, 1947 in Shreveport to the parentage of the late Louis Allen and Pennie Allen. He was the third of 11 children.
Webster accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Minden. He later united with Mt. Calm Missionary Baptist Church.
Gene's life was the influence of a beautiful rose, and his influence will forever live on trough those lives he touched. Upon his head rests a crown studded with sparkling jewels of golden deeds. He had a quiet manner, an adorable personality and pleasant toward everyone. He will be greatly missed, but this is God's way and His will must be done.
On Dec. 12, 2012, God dispatched Heavenly Angels amidst celestial fireworks and granted Holy Independence to His faithful servant. His father, sister and wife preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted mother, Pennie Allen of Minden; three sons, Derek Rice, Taras (RoLonda) Allen, all of Minden and Antonio (Paula) Allen of Gibsland; two daughters, Veronica Franklin of Sacramento, California and Malika Mims of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Louis Allen of Riverside, California, Willie (Carrie) Allen, Raymond Allen, Donnie Allen and Edward (Deidre) Hill of Minden; four sisters, Mary (Willie) Sneed of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy (Dennis) Lewis, Mary (James) Shealey of Minden and Helen (Dave) Shyne of Sibley; two uncles, Johnnie Stevens and Calvin Stevens of Minden; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be today (Friday, December 21) from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 22, at 1 p.m. at St. Rest Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Dixon, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
