Jabberwock to take place Saturday

Minden Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents its 52nd annual Jabberwock, featuring the crowning of Miss Jabberwock on Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at the Minden Civic Center.

The Jabberwock will feature the crowning of Miss Kabreyia Forbes as the 2013 Miss Jabberwock queen, along with her royal court.

Kabreyia is the daughter of KniKeia Harris of Minden. Following the crowning of Miss Jabberwock, the sorority will feature the finalists in the "Minden's Got Talent" contest.

Auditions were held in February. These finalists will be competing for the chance to win $300, $150 or $50. Admission to the Jabberwock is free.

Door prizes will be given away and a chance to win a set of beats for $2

The idea of "Jabberwock" was taken from Lewis Carroll's Fairy Tale, "Alice in Wonderland," and means a variety of talents comprising an evening's entertainment.

Soror Marion Hope Conover, a member of the Sorority's Iota Chapter in Boston, Massachusetts, conceived the idea in an effort to raise money for their Chapter's Scholarship Fund.

Donations will be listed in the souvenir booklet from contributors.

The proceeds from Jabberwock are used to maintain Delta Sigma Theta's Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Educational Development, Economic Development, Physical and Mental Health, Political

Awareness and Involvement, and International Awareness and Involvement.

Minden Alumnae would like to thank the public, all the contestants, participants, families, friends, businesses, contributors, donors and supporters.
