DOYLINE — The Doyline Panthers moved their record to 5-2 with a 4-3 win over Haynesville on Tuesday in Doyline.
Panther starter Gage Brunson got the win, improving to 2-1. Zach Jordan got the save.
Doyline led 4-0, but the Tors scored three runs in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3.
"In the last inning, Gage got the first batter out, and then he walked the next batter which put the tying run on first," Doyline coach John Austin said. "I brought Zach in, and he hit the first batter he faced which put the go ahead run on first. He didn't lose composure though and got a ground ball force out on the next batter."
A bad hop on the infield loaded the bases and brought up Haynesville's clean-up hitter.
"Zach went all the way to a full count before striking him out to win the game," Austin said. "Our defense and pitching really won the game for us."
Robert Stephens led the Panthers with two singles, and James Gaynor added a triple. Luke Watson and Gage Brunson both singled.
"This improved out record to 5-2," Austin said. "Our next game will be Friday at 6 p.m. in the Castor Tournament against Red River. The game will be played at Ringold High School because of the construction going on at Castor High School Baseball Field Complex."
