Minden Police officers won a footrace with a local man, and he is currently residing at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center with multiple charges.
Chief Steve Cropper said 53-year-old Ricky Williams of the 700 block of Sibley Road attempted to flee officers 1st Class Jennifer Anderson and Chris Humble when they responded to a disturbance call near his residence.
"When the officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with three subjects – two males and one female," Cropper said. "Officer Anderson began talking with the female and learned she had been arguing with Williams, who is her father."
Anderson reportedly informed Williams that police had an outstanding arrest warrant on him and that he was under arrest.
"At that point, Williams chose to flee the scene," Cropper said. "He bolted and ran into a wooded area near the location."
After a short foot chase, Anderson and Humble took Williams into custody. Capt. Marvin Garrett, Lt. Dan Weaver and Lt. Tim Morris assisted in the chase.
Williams is charged on an outstanding arrest warrant for unauthorized use of a moveable, outstanding City of Minden blue sheet warrants for no driver's license and no insurance and resisting an officer.
He was taken to Minden Police Department where he was booked and then transported to BDCC where he is being held on bond.
