The Minden High Lady Tiders took part in the Airline/Southwood Tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Tiders crushed Southwood 12-1, and lost a pair of 8-3 decisions to Natchitoches-Central and Caddo Magnet.
Minden 12, Southwood 1
The Lady Tiders wasted no time as they jumped out to a 5-0 led in the top of the first against the Lady Cowboys.
Hannah Parker and Timberli Allen led off the game by reaching base on errors by the Southwood shortstop. Laci Roberts then followed with a triple, scoring both runners. Kersten Lee reached on a dropped third strike, scoring Roberts and then Kara Watson stroked a two-run home run.
In the fourth, the Lady Tiders added five more runs to increase their lead to 10-1.
April Volentine singled and moved around to third where she scored on an Allen single. Roberts and Kara Watson both reached base to fill the bases, and Lee reached on an E-6 that scored Allen and Roberts. Katlyn Watson then reached on a fielder's choice that plated her sister Kara.
The Lady Tiders added two more runs in the top of the fifth on RBI-doubles by Roberts and Kara Watson.
Katie Lewis pitched all five innings to get the win, allowing four hits and striking out two.
Natchitoches-Central 8, Minden 3
Volentine singled, tripled and drove in two runs to lead the Lady Tiders. Allen and Roberts each had two singles and Parker added a double. Laura Faulk, Jordan Gray and Lee all singled.
Caddo 8, Minden 3
Parker had two singles and a home run to lead Minden. Allen had two singles and Kara Watson, Katlyn Watson, Gray, Lee all added base hits.
