April was a very busy month for educational outreach! During this month, 693 area students have been reached through water quality presentations and/or activities and 34 presentations have been given. Some of the locations and/or events include:
"Dad and Me" at the Girl Scout Camp in Chatham, "Scout Badge Day" at Sci-Port in Shreveport, "Family Fun Bio Blitz" at Girl Scout Camp in Sterlington, "Roughing-it Camp" with 4-Hers in Winn Parish, and schools groups from Bossier Elementary, Choudrant and Sterlington.
In addition, there was a booth event at Sci-Port in Shreveport for their annual "Sustainapalooza". This particular event was aimed at adults, rather than children, and several "green" groups and/or companies set up booths, such as: Shreveport Green, Chesapeake Energy, Pratt Industries and CottonTails Diaper Service of Louisiana. This event had a great turn-out as well with an estimate of just over 300 people.
Other water quality outreach and networking was done at the Claiborne, Webster, and Jackson Parish Police Jury meetings, Saline SWCD's Plant Sale, Ringgold Library, Saline Library and Castor Library.
