The purpose of the Lakeside North Louisiana tune-up cross-country meet was to make sure that the participating runners were prepared for the upcoming state met.
Running over a challenging three-mile course at the Minden Rec Complex the Lakeside girls and guys passed the tune-up with some impressive performances.
Enrique Soto made it six for six as he won the guy's race at 15:59 to end the regular season undefeated.
Senior Zach Levesque turned in an impressive second place performance with a time of 16:38. Levesque placed no lower than fourth in all 9 mets this season. Running a personal-best of 17:13 James Taylor finished sixth.
Eight grader Eric Greene was eighth at 17:54. Austin McGinty was Lakeside's fifth runner as he placed 12th at 18:09. Also qualifying to run the state meet were Travis Walker who was 18th at 18:47 and Nic Petty who was 20th at 19:04.
Other finishers for the Warriors were Stephen France (26th) (20:22), Austin Pike (32) (20:41) Alex Robles (40th (22:25), Cody Robinson (34th) (21:12), JR Mueller (45th) (23:14), and Joseph Johnson (52) (26:15).
The Lakeside boys won the meet with a low point total of nine points to Ruston's 38 points. 56 boys took place in the race.
Allisa Landers, a seventh grader in her first year of running, ran a personal best of 20:23 to place fourth in the 36 runner girls race.
Hannah Shively placed 10th at 21:30. Heather Shenck placed 12th at 22:00. Haily Hesterman of Calvary won the race with an outstanding time of 18:42. Ruston won the team title with a low point score of 30 points to runner-up Loyola's 68.
The Warriors next meet will be the Class 2A State Championship on Tuesday November 15 at the NSU Track Complex.
The boy's race will begin at 1:45 p.m. while the girls will compete at 3:15 p.m.
