Minden High to host Lakeshore in playoff opener

Minden High to host Lakeshore in playoff opener

The Minden Crimson Tide will host Lakeshore High from Mandeville this Friday night in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The Tide enters the playoffs as the #16 seed and Lakeshore is the #17 seed in Class 4A.

"We were a few games from this and a few games from that," Minden coach Dean Francis said. "So we could have easily been a #10 seed, but it is what it is. We headed into last week as the #15 seed, but things change and we ended up at 16."

The Titans will pretty much be an unknown as they come into Griffith Stadium Friday.

"I don't know much about them," Francis said. "Their record is 14-17 and we're a little better at 17-14."

The winner of Friday's game will play the winner of #1 seed St. Thomas Moore and #32 Grant.

"We knew if we won that we'd be matched up with either the #1 or #2 seed," Francis said. "So we can't worry about that. We're just going to go out and focus on the game in front of us.

You have to play the tough teams sometime, so it might as well be early. Like the coach from Benton said, 'If you beat the #1 team, your bracket gets easy.' So we're just going to go out and play."

The game will be played Friday night at 6 p.m. at Griffith Stadium. Admission will be $7 and there will be no free passes honored.
