Recently a friend told of being the fifth generation to live on the old homestead. What a wonderful heritage! Not many folks can make that claim today. In a day and time when so many are nomadic, it is good to hear of someone 'staying put'. Take a poll of friends or even family members (at the next reunion) and see how many live in other states. Of course, a heritage is not limited by geographical boundaries.
Many families speak of transferring heritage into succeeding generations in terms of integrity, trustworthiness, family values and the like. Biblically speaking, we would think "to be Godly in our dealings with others, passing on valuable traits of service, discipleship, and commitment to God and His teachings would spell "h-e-r-i-t-a-g-e". But for some folks today, what has happened in the past is of little importance. To some, heritage is all tied up in financial worth!
