A Shreveport woman brought drugs to Minden and is now spendng time in Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
Brooke Brinker, 25, of the 2700 block of Wisteria Street, Shreveport was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Sch. IV (Xanax) with intent to distribute.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper, said Ofc. Danny Turner, who was assisted by Off. Chris McClaran and Ofc. Tokia Whiting, made the arrest.
"Turner had been patrolling the Talton Street area when he stopped at a store for a cold drink," Cropper said. "He observed a male subject getting out of a vehicle. When the man saw Off. Turner, he walked back to his car."
Cropper said Turner entered the store to purchase a drink.
"The male came back in the store and when the officer turned and saw him, he exited the store, got into the vehicle and drove off," Cropper said. "It raised a lot of suspicion, so Turner tailed the car and pulled him over for ID purposes."
Cropper said the man was identified as Andrew Michael.
"Officer Turner talked to him, and he appeared to be very nervous," Cropper said. "Turner asked if he had anything illegal in the vehicle, and Michael said no.
When Turner asked permission to search, Michael said the vehicle belonged to his passenger, who was identified as Brinker.
The Shreveport resident gave the officer consent to search the vehicle, and Off. McClaran was called in to assist.
Cropper said McClaran located a Xanax bar inside the vehicle.
"McClaran asked Brinker if she had anything illegal on her person, and she admitted she had some Xanax in her bra," Cropper said. "They contacted Ofc. Tokia Whiting, who came to their location to retrieve and search Brinker. She found a bottle on Brinker's person that contained 20 Xanax bars with a street value over $100."
Brinker admitted the Xanax was hers, and she was charged.
Cropper said Michael was not arrested but was ticketed for no insurance.
