North Webster High to hold orientation
Orientation for students entering high school happens every year in Webster Parish. This year, upper classmen at North Webster High School will be included as well.
"To help all the students and parents with the new school and changes, North Webster High School is scheduling orientations for all grade levels," Jeff Franklin said. "We are asking all students and at least one parent to attend their assigned orientation session."
Orientation will be held in the school cafeteria on Monday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 2.
Sessions start Monday at 6 p.m. for 9th grade, while 11th grade starts at 7:30 that evening.
Tuesday sessions include 10th grade, which starts at 6 p.m. and 12th grade at 7:30 p.m.
"The main objective for orientation will be scheduling for the new school year," Franklin said. "(We) will be offering some new classes and have reorganized many others."
According to Franklin, in order for everyone to be scheduled when school starts, all students will need to fill out new schedule request cards.
Other topics to be discussed include graduation pathways, TOPS, dress code and high stakes testing.
Franklin requests parents and students who are unable to attend the assigned orientation session to stop by the office and fill out a scheduling form before Friday, August 5.
"We will be working very hard to have all students scheduled by Back to School Sunday," Franklin said. "We want all the students and parents to attend Back to School Sunday."
Back to School Sunday will be held August 7, from 2 until 3:30 p.m. at North Webster High School, where students will pick up their registration packets and other items needed for the 2011-2012 school year.
Registration for North Webster High School students will be set up in the main hallway. Students and parents should enter the building by the main office on South Arkansas Street.
