While the U.S. Surgeon General says smoking cigarettes is hazardous to your health, a Minden woman learned that what she carries in her cigarette is hazardous to her freedom.
Karen Stanfield, 53, of the 100 block of W. Roosevelt Street, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (Crystal Methamphetamine).
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said that when officer Danny "B o" Turner stopped Stanfield on Bayou Avenue for running a stop sign, he learned she had an outstanding warrant for switched plates.
"Officer Turner brought her down to the police station," Cropper said. "When officers were doing an inventory of her purse before securing her belongings, they discovered a fake cigarette inside a pack. Inside the fake cigarette was Crystal Methamphetamine."
