Apaches improve to 11-4 overall; 4-1 in district
WINNSBORO — The Glenbrook Apaches improved to 4-1 in dis- trict play with an 11-3 win over Franklin Academy on Tuesday.
"This was a huge dis- trict win for us," Glenbrook coach Jonathan Hardy said. "It was big for us to go over there and beat them like we did."
Logan Clark started on the mound for Glenbrook and took the win. Clark scattered five hits over five innings, walking just two batters and striking out 10. Only two of the Franklin runs were earned.
Bailey Petit pitched the final two innings, giving up one hit and striking out three. Connor Clark had a big day at the plate, as he went two-for-three and drove in four runs. Connor Copeland dou- bled and singled and Caleb Wilson had two hits. Logan Clark and Jacob White both sin- gled and Petit doubled. Cameron Matthews added a two-run single.
"I felt like we played a pretty complete ball game," Hardy said. "We cut down on our errors and we got some key timely hits. We were also able to pick up run- ners in scoring position by getting the ball on the ground or line driv- ing it. It was definitely one of our most com- plete games of the year, and we'll need more of the same Friday when we host Riverfield."
The Apaches will host Riverfield on Friday with the jv at 4 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m.Subscribe to Read!
