Kourvelas assists at La. Tech camp

Glenbrook head basketball coach Chris Kourvelas recently assisted at the recent La. Tech basketball camp hosted by new Bulldog head coach Michael White.

"We had approximately 40 campers from third grade to seniors," Kourvelas said. "We focused on basic fundamentals, individual stations workouts and team concepts."

Kourvelas enjoyed his time at the camp and learned a few things as well.

"This camp has been a lot of fun and I have enjoyed being a part of it," he said. "I hope the campers have learned as much or even more than I have over the last few days. I have also enjoyed getting to know the campers and the coaching staff at LA Tech and hope to continue our friendships for a long time."

Next month (July 18-22) Kourvelas will host his own basketball camp. The camp will be for boys fourth grade through their senior year.

The cost is $50 per camper (this includes a camp t-shirt). "The camp will consist of basic fundamentals, passing, shooting, defensive and offensive principles," Kourvelas said. "We will also stress individual drills, competitions and team play."

Kourvelas, who has a 38-18 overall record at Glenbrook, has coached some notable players in his career including; Elliot Williams - 2010 NBA 22nd overall draft pick of the Portland Trailblazers, Laurence Bowers - University of Missouri, Asa Toney - Maryville University, Jonathan Smith - Rhodes College, Bobby Parks Jr. - Georgia Tech and locally Colton Spurlock - All District, District MVP and All Star District 6 AA MAIS.

You can pick up a registration form at a few local businesses or call Kourvelas to get one. He can be reached at (318) 455-5999.
