Jonathan Douglas Hammons passed away at his home in Shreveport on Jan, 29, 2013 with family by his side.
Jonathan was born Jan. 23, 1980 to Douglas N. and Debra Fuller Hammons in Natchitoches.
Jonathan grew up in Natchitoches and graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in 1998. Following high school, he attended Northwestern State University with a Viola Scholarship and played in the NSU Symphony Orchestra. He obtained an Associate Degree from NSU.
Jonathan worked as an EMT with the National Guard and later became a paramedic working for the Natchitoches Parish Hospital, Med Express and offshore for BP Drilling. His last job was a system analyst for General Dynamics contracted to Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
He loved to travel and had visited Norway, England, Ireland, France and Mexico before he was paralyzed in a diving accident on August 2, 2008.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Paul and Opal Hammons of DeQuincy; maternal grandparents, Euel B. and Christine Fuller of Sibley; his aunt, Ann Jones of Sibley; and uncle, E.B. Fuller, Jr. of Mechanicsville, Virginia.
Jonathan is survived by his parents, Doug and Debbie Hammons of Natchitoches; brother, Joshua Hammons of Natchitoches; sister, Jennifer Hammons Samaha and husband, Mike of Katy, Texas; nieces, Grace and Abigail Samaha; nephews, Matthew and Trey Samaha; uncles, John Paul Hammons and wife, RuthAnne of Gretna; Dave Hammons and wife, Virgie of Omaha, Arkansas; Roger Hammons and wife, Katherine of Lake Jackson, Texas, Tony Fuller and wife, Gloria of Minden; and aunt, Debbie Fuller of Mechanicsville, Virginia.
It was Jonathan's wishes to be cremated and to be remembered by family and friends at a Celebration of Life at his home in Shreveport from 2 until 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 2019 Waterview Lane, Shreveport.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Foster of Anchorage, Alaska, Daniel DeFratis of Newport News, Virginia, Greg Jones of Sibley, Kevin Fuller of Sibley, Austin Fuller of Minden, Matthew Samaha of Katy, Texas, Trey Samaha of Katy, Texas and Judah Woodard of Dubberly.
