What began as a verbal altercation between a man and woman ended in the man's arrest for allegedly trying to choke his girlfriend.
Bryan A. Noles, 37, of the 300 block of Lee Street, was arrested by Minden Police on a warrant for domestic abuse battery with strangulation.
Police Chief Steve Cropper said around 11:15 a.m. Friday, November 30, Det. Chris Cheatham, Ofc. Ben Allen, Off. Ben Gray, Ofc. Kenneth James and Off. Justin Tyson were dispatched to Lee Street to serve a warrant on Noles for domestic battery.
"This warrant stemmed from an altercation between Noles and his girlfriend," Cropper said. "It began as a verbal altercation that took place because Noles was allegedly associating with another woman."
Cropper said the altercation escalated when Noles reportedly became physically abusive with the victim.
"He allegedly kicked the victim in the leg and punched her on the back side, leaving bruises that were visible seven days later," said the chief. "Then, Noles grabbed the victim around the neck with his hands and began to choke her, according to reports."
The victim reportedly broke free and left the residence.
"She said she was scared the first few days, and then she made the decision to come to the Minden Police Department and file a complaint and report," Cropper said. "That's when officers obtained an arrest warrant for domestic abuse by strangulation."
Cropper said Noles was booked at the police department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is being held under a $25,000 bond.
