A local man has been arrested by Minden Police for striking his girlfriend's nine-year-old daughter.
Jonathan Drake, 25, of the 100 block of Robertson Drive, is charged with cruelty to a juvenile and a hold has been placed on him by Probation and Parole.
Police Chief Steve Cropper said officers were called to Robertson Trailer Park around midnight Friday.
"When Ofc. Danny Turner, Sgt. James Barnes and Off. Shawn Jenkins arrived on the scene, there were several people at the location," Cropper said. "Apparently, Drake and a female had gotten into a verbal argument, and the female's little girl apparently tried to intervene."
Drake allegedly turned and struck the nine-year-old female in the face, knocking her to the ground.
"Drake then made the statement that he 'didn't care that she was a little girl because the child wasn't his anyway,'" Cropper said.
Drake was arrested and booked at the Minden Police Department.
He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is still incarcerated.
