Checkpoint nets one DWI arrest

Friday the 13th was an unlucky day for several drivers making their way through insurance checkpoints around the parish.

“We do these insurance checkpoints periodically as part of our efforts to ensure that vehicle owners carry insurance,” said Sheriff Gary Sexton.  “It’s not uncommon, though, for us to turn up drivers who are breaking other laws.”

Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office Community Action Directed (CAD) Patrol conducted the checkpoint at Dorcheat Road and Allen Drive near Minden, Nursery Road and Tillman Church Road in Sibley and Penal Farm Road and Crichton Road near Dubberly.

For their efforts, they stopped 76 cars, wrote 10 citations and made one arrest for the following offenses:

DWI 1st (arrest)

Driving Under Suspensions

Two for no insurance

One for expired license plate

Four open containers

One for switched license plate.
