In the Master's Hand-Eureka!

Many of us watched the Master's Golf Tournament in Augusta Sunday afternoon and saw Bubba Watson proudly take the green coat after a dramatic play-off victory. Truth is, several men almost won it, but Bubba walked off with the accolades and the prize money. He was most deserving. When I read a bio on him from Billy Graham's website, I was almost as emotional as he was when he cupped the winning ball.

It is good to see good things happen to good people. Watson's Christian testimony was not seen on his sleeve nor among fans rooting for him. But in his own way, he honored God by his sportsmanship and emotional responses to those around him when the game ended. In the golf world "his story" is well-known. The analysts indicated "this broadcast is being seen around the world". Millions know who Bubba is now!

This was a "eureka" experience that Watson will never forget. (Eureka – an expression of triumph upon discovery of an unusual feat. The expression, "I have found it", or "eureka" is attributed to Archimedes upon discovering a method for determining the purity of gold) Haven't we all had those special moments along the way? This was truly Bubba's eureka moment.

I had my 'eureka experience' on Easter Day 1959 and I have never been the same. That day I had a salvation experience. I placed my complete faith and trust in the saving power of Jesus Christ. I began a new journey in life, becoming a new creation in Christ. Old things began to pass away, and life was elevated to a higher plane. This happens in lives of those coming to the Resurrected Lord, humbly confessing one's sin, asking for forgiveness of all wrongs. A new life – a truly 'eureka experience' when we place our lives in the Master's hand. We become joint-heirs with Jesus in His kingdom's work. Our attitudes, actions and desires are rerouted-changed. We experience metamorphosis (a striking alteration in appearance, character and circumstances). There are some things more important than winning a golf tournament. The Master's victory for Watson cannot compare to the eternal "Eureka" experience of claiming the Risen Lord as His Savior.

Place your life in the Master's hand and you will shout "eureka".
