Doyline Panthers take second place

QUITMAN — The Doyline Panthers traveled to Quitman Tuesday night and beat the Wolverines, 74-58 to take second place in District 1B.

The Panthers used a big second half to power past Quitman.

Doyline held a slim 13-12 lead after the first quarter, and Quitman came back to out-score the Panthers 13-10 in the second quarter to take a 25-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

But the Panthers stormed out in the third quarter to out-score the Wolverines 22-11 and then took the fourth quarter 29-22 to finish out the 74-58 win.

Trey Jackson led Doyline with 19 points and Cardarius Thompson scored 16. Jalen Jackson and Lawrence Hester scored each scored 11 points and Deotis Germany added 10.

Thompson hit four three-pointers in the game, and Tret Jackson added three.

The Panthers finished the regular season at 14-14 and now await their Class B playoff opponent.
