The Glenbrook Apaches hosted Franklin Academy Tuesday night and sent the Cougars home with a 67-46 loss.
"This was a good win for us tonight, not only because it was a solid win, but also we were sitting in a tie in district for second place with Franklin," Glenbrook coach Chris Kourvelas said. " Now, we are looking to improve over the next few games. We travel to Riverfield on Friday and hope to continue to be on the right path."
The Apaches trailed 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, but out-scored Franklin 25-12 in the second to take a 39-28 halftime lead. Franklin came back to take the third, 14-11. The Apaches roared back in the fourth, closing out the game with a 17-4 fourth quarter.
"Franklin has a good solid team," Kourvelas said. "They were able to put a few runs on us during the game, most notably in the first and third quarters. We decided to go with a different defensive sets, which really paid off for us. We executed it well and were able to create some turnovers and were able to capitalize on those."
Zach Specht led the team with a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds. Jacob White added 16 points and Cade Spurlock added 11 points and eight rebounds. Caydan Maloney added eight points and 14 rebounds.
Jacob had another good game," Kourvelas said. " And Maloneyand Specht have become a big force for us on the boards combining for almost 30 rebounds tonight."
