Lady Tiders one game from finals

The Minden High Lady Tiders took another step to winning their own tournament Thursday night by defeating the Haynesville Lady Tors, 38-27.

The quarterfinal victory places Minden in the semifinal round of the Edward Jones Investments Minden Holiday Classic.

"We came out early and played well," Lady Tider coach Jacob Brown said. "We moved the ball around and were able to get open looks at the basket."

Miranda Fisher scored 14 of her game high 20 points in the first half to pace Minden to a 12 point halftime lead.

The girls came out sluggish in the third quarter; however, as they only scored four points to let Haynesville narrow the lead.

"We didn't take advantage of our position," Brown said. "That is a concern and something we have to work on to be more effective."

After the sluggish third quarter, Minden picked up the pace in the fourth.

"That was good to see," he said. "We had some adversity and had some starters on the bench. But we pushed through and found a way to win."

Next up for the Lady Tiders is a semifinal tilt with an opponent that has not as of yet been determined. The game will be played at 9:30 Saturday morning at Minden High.

In addition to Miranda Fisher's 20 points and 12 rebounds, Rachel Shyne and Antavia Sterling each contributed seven points in the win.

"I was pleased with the way we pulled through for the win," Brown said.
