NATCHITOCHES — The Lakeside Warriors performed well at the NSU Invitational on Saturday, with a couple of Top 10 indidual finishers and a sixth-place finish for the boys’ team.
That bodes well for the team in the future, as the NSU course will be the same course for the State Meet.
The meet attracted 26 teams and more than 200 runners in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions.
The Warriors earned 231 points to earn a tie for sixth-place in the 26-team meet.
Zach Levesque took top Warrior honors with a fourth place finish with a time of 16:45. Levesque has finished fourth or better in all seven meets this season.
James Taylor finished 23rd with a time of 17:52, and State Jr. High champion Eric Greene placed 33rd at 18:12.
Austin McGinty finished 64th at 19:02 and Travis Walker took 87th with a time of 19:41.
Leading the way for the Lady Warriors was Junior High State Champion Hannah Shively. Shively ran a 20:03 to place eighth over the three-mile course. Junior High State runner-up Alyssa Landers finished 28th with a personal-best time of21:08. Finishing 43rd at 21:54 was freshman Heather Schenck.
The next action for the Lakeside cross-country teams will be at the Ruston Bearcat Invitational on Saturday, October 29th. The girls’ race begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the boys at 9 a.m.
