Pak’s Karate athletes take championships

8-12_Paks_Karate_ChampionsPak's Karate Academy has only been established in Minden for two years but in that short time they have produced several martial artists that compete on multiple levels. This summer they had students bring home titles in sparring, forms and a World Championship.

Elizabeth and Stuart Drobina competed in the 2011 Mayor's Cup Tang Soo Do Championship held in Jacksonville, Florida July 16th. Pak's Karate Schools came from all over the country to compete in this event. Elizabeth placed first in forms and Stuart placed second in continuous sparring. This is one of many tournaments the winning sibling duo has competed in this year.

Elizabeth is a recent graduate of Louisiana Tech University and is active in the Air Force Reserve. Stuart is an 18 year old senior at Haughton High school. They both enjoy assisting their dad, Jeff Drobina in the teaching duties at Pak's Karate Academy.

Juli McFarland competed in the USKA World Karate Championship held July 21st through the 24th in Dallas, TX. She won the Brown Belt Women's Continuous Sparring World Championship and placed third in Women's Ippon Kumite. McFarland has participated in over 15 tournaments placing in every one of them. Next summer, she will be competing in the U.S. Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships held in Orlando Florida. This is one of the biggest martial arts events in the world. In addition to her training at Pak's Karate, she is an assistant instructor at Bellaire Wushu Academy in Bossier City.

Pak's Karate Academy is led by Senior Instructors Jeff Drobina and Derek Bradford. It is located at 1126 Homer Road in the Town East Shopping Center across the street from Walmart in Minden.
