Christie and Willis take Class A Championship

JACKSON. MS. — The semifinals and the finals of the Class A MAIS Tennis Tournament were held last week in Jackson, MS, at the Ridgeland Tennis Complex.

The winners and the runner-ups in each of the nine divisions of competition from both the North A and the South A Tournaments filled the 'draw' for the championships. By virtue of their having won the South A titles, Amelia Christy and Catherine Willis were matched with the runner-ups from the North A in the semi-finals. "This was a new experience for both girls. The pre-court time was filled with nervousness, yet anxiousness, mixed with a degree of the unknown. My advice to each of them was to play 'your' game, take advantage of unforced errors, focus/concentrate, and have fun," noted coach Wayne Orr.
