Glenbrook's Head Coach, Chris Kourvelas "Coach K" and his staff completed their 2011 Basketball Camp Friday at First Baptist Church Minden.
The five day camp began on Monday morning and concluded Friday afternoon. Coach K led the camp instruction, which featured about 25 young men. Other instructors assisting were Assistant Coach, Justin Kelly; former Doyline High and current Louisiana College basketball stand out, Jesse Gallegos, and recent Claiborne Academy graduate and basketball player, Jadarius Willis.
Kourvelas looks forward to running the camp every summe.
"I feel that as a coach, it is one of our responsibilities to influence the development of sport in the community," he said. "I feel that our camp went very well this summer, and the campers learned a lot. When you work with young players, their skills develop at a rapid pace, there is a big difference in the quality of play from Monday to Friday (plus you never know who may be playing for us when they get older!) For the older players, we were able to focus a bit on what we may be doing this upcoming basketball season."
Marla Fegley, mother of third grader, Andrew Fegley was very happy with her son's experience.
"This is a great camp for players of all ages," she said. "It teaches the fundamentals of the game and how to play as a team. Our son had a great time and will definitely participate next year."
"This camp definitely would not had been possible with out the help from our staff," Kourvelas said. " I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart and to First Baptist for opening their doors to us."
