Interstate 20 was closed Friday morning when a single vehicle accident involving an east bound 18 wheeler occurred around 4:30 in the morning.
According to Cordell Williams, public information officer for the state police, the driver, Mohamed Kalle of Desoto Texas, veered into a guardrail at mile marker 45.
"The truck became airborne and landed at the bottom of an embankment in the median, at which time the tractor caught on fire," he said. "The driver was wearing his seat belt and sustained minor injuries and was transported to Minden Medical Center."
As of press time, I-20 was open, but will close later today when the truck and trailer are pulled from the embankment.
"Inmates are unloading the trailer right now," Williams said.
According to Williams no citation was issued and the Department of Transportation will assess any damage to the bridge.
