C.C._CoxC.C "Cat " Cox has announced his bid for re-election for the District 5 seat on the Webster Parish Police Jury.

"The public has placed their confidence in me for their police juror," Cox said. "I have devoted my entire adult life to public service and feel that I am the best candidate to serve the residents of District 5.

Cox, who is retired, said he will be able to continue to serve as a full-time police juror.

"I have dedicated 100 percent of my time to successfully representing all my constituents," he said.

In his time on the jury, Cox has served on numerous committees, including community service, finance, road and buildings and grounds.

He has an almost perfect attendance record, attending 228 of 229 regularly-scheduled jury meetings.

"I not only attend meetings, but also work to resolve the issues that citizens of District 5 have regarding road creation and maintenance, community service, libraries, health and sanitation, agricultural services and the different governmental agencies," Cox said.

Over the past year, Cox was instrumental in maintaining streets and cleaning ditches throughout the district, restoring the baseball field, completing the Hwy. 80 fire station, renovation of voting precincts, resurfacing Brantley Road and having three bridges within the district replaced by the state.

Cox is a native of Webster Parish and has been married to Loriece Young Cox for 62 years. They have two daughters, Naomi Coyle and Ouida Garner. He is a member of Cotton Valley and Cotton Valley Lodge # 335.

"My goal is to ensure the best possible government and government services for all of Webster Parish and especially the residents of my district, which extends form Cotton Valley to Dixie Inn," Cox said. "I have played a vital role in the aggressive public works program under way at the Webster Police Jury and, with your support, the future looks even brighter."
