Melva (Ford) Dodson, 92, of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Melva was born on May 29, 1919 in Columbia County, Arkansas to the late Oscar Reagan and Trudy (Whitlow) Ford. She was a homemaker, a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, and loved fishing and quilting.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hoyle Dodson; son, David Dodson; grandson, Mark Dodson; sisters, Arzelle Garner and Myrtle Nipper; and brothers, Ollis Ford and Clifton Ford.
Survivors are her sons, Thomas Dodson and wife, Ruth and Nickey Dodson and wife, Nila both of Magnolia, Arkansas; daughter, Nancy Temples and husband, Troy of Magnolia, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Judy Dodson of Minden; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
