A Minden man is nursing a sizeable headache, while another is doing time at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center ... all over a pack of cigarettes.
James Bailey, Jr., 42, of the 700 block of Sibley Road, was arrested and charged with aggravated second degree battery after he reportedly used a metal chair to convince a victim to give him the cigarettes.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said Officer Kenneth James was dispatched to Minden Medical Center in reference to a subject in the emergency room with lacerations on the top of his head.
"The victim told the officer he had been in a residence on Theus Street and had a confrontation with Bailey over the cigarettes," Cropper said. "Bailey was trying to get the victim's cigarettes and the victim didn't want Bailey to have them, so Bailey picked up a metal chair and hit him across the top of his head a couple of times."
Along with officers Ryan Barnette and Chris Hammontree, Off. James returned to the Theus Street residence, but Bailey had reportedly left the scene.
"They got Bailey's home address and made contact with him," Cropper said. "His story was a little bit different from the victim's story, but the officers learned he had an outstanding warrant through the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office, so they brought him in to the police department."
Bailey was reportedly transported to BDCC.
