JACKSON, MS.—The Glenbrook Apaches closed out last week with three straight wins.
On Thursday, they beat Central School, 65-36, in a district game, and then took two games in the Jackson Prep Holiday Doubleheader in Jackson, Mississippi over the weekend.
"We were really happy with the weekend," Apache head coach Todd Spurlock said. "The kids played well and I'm proud of the way they never quit when we got down, and the way they fought back."
Jalen Patterson led the Apaches with 23 points in their win over Central. Cade Spurlock added 10, Regan Edwards had nine and Maurice Moore added four.
Friday night, the Apaches faced Yazoo County, a ranked 4A public school in Mississippi and beat them, 47-45.
"We were real excited to play and beat a ranked 4A public school," Spurlock said. "We were down by one point and Jalen hit a three-pointer with under five seconds left to put us up two. We played good defense and held them without a shot to win."
Patterson led the Apaches with 24 points, Cade Spurlock had nine and Moore added 10.
Glenbrook then faced Tuscaloosa Academy on Saturday and beat them 69-62 in overtime.
"We were down by two late in the game and Cade drove the length of the court and hit a lay-up to send it to overtime," Spurlock said. "Then we played real strong in the OT to get the win. The big play came when we missed a free throw and Mo got the rebound and dunked in the put back. That really gave us a boost."
Patterson led Glenbrook with 22 points, Cade Spurlock had 15, Moore added nine and Edwards scored eight.
The Apaches will head to Alexandria on Tuesday to take on Cenla Academy.
"It's going to be a tough district game for us," Spurlock said. "They'll be the toughest team we've faced all year."
