Stop nets one on drug charges

Adam_PayneA traffic stop of an erratic driver turned into the arrest of a Minden man on drug charges.

Adam Payne, 29, of the 700 block of Germantown Road, is charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (Adderall) and careless operation of a vehicle.

Payne was reportedly observed crossing the double yellow center line on Sheppard Street several times by Ofc. Danny Turner around 7 p.m. Monday.

"Officer Turner conducted a traffic stop and Payne was asked to exit the vehicle," said Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper. "Once outside the vehicle, Payne was asked to remove his hands from his pocket so they could be seen, but he refused to comply with the request."

According to reports, Turner observed an object in the front of Payne's trousers.

"Payne was asked what the object was, and he replied 'some Adderall pills,'" Cropper said.

Payne was booked into BDCC.
