Warriors continue tourney at St. Fredericks today
BASTROP — The Lakeside Warriors dropped their first game of the Bastrop Tournament, 4-1 to Oak Grove on Thursday.
"It was a good ball game for us," Lakeside coach Bob Gray said. "We didn't make a lot of errors, we got more hits than our opponent, our pitching held up well, but they just scored more runs than we did."
Lakeside out-hit Oak Grove 8-6.
Austin Ashley did a good job on the mound for the Warriors, but took the loss. He pitched three innings, giving up three earned runs.
"Austin didn't do a bad job," Gray said. "And the two guys that followed him did a nice job as well. We threw a couple of guys after Austin because we have to space out our pitching because of the four games this weekend."
Ashley led the team with a single and a triple at the plate, and Luke Griffith added a double. Cameron Corley, Payton Johnson, Thomas Lambert, Josh Prince and Jake Gray all added base hits.
"Oak Grove was a quality opponent," Gray said. "They've already won 10 games this year. We have another quality opponent today. We play St. Fred's at St. Fred's today at 6:30 p.m. in the second round of the Bastrop Tournament."
