Hilton B. Ridley, 89, passed away Dec. 21, 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born April 22, 1923 in Homer to the late Field and Lue Val Ridley.
Hilton served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945 where he was a welder. He settled in Philadelphia, in the 1940's where he remained until his death. He retired from Drexel University where he worked in the building/ maintenance department.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Griffiths Ridley; son, Hilton Ridley and wife, Dona; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Hilton of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Aliah of Jamaica; and siblings, Betty Morris of Houston Texas, Elsie Natt of Lafayette and Dorothy Jackson of Minden.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Pete, Morris and Theron; and six sisters, Eva Dean, Gladys, Neldra, Martha, Christine and Joyce. He was the beloved Papa of Kevin, Samantha and Iris and loving "Uncle Bud" to many nieces and nephews.
Private interment will take place December 27. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at 5255 Pine Street, Philadelphia, on Saturday, December 29, at 3 p.m.
