Warriors fall, Lady Warriors get big win

The Lakeside Warriors and Lady Warriors both played games on the road Tuesday, and came back with different outcomes.

The Warriors played at Sterlington, where they lost, 12-2; while the Lady Warriors took a 14-1 win at Jonesboro.

The Warriors fell behind early, as Sterlington scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.

The Warriors got on the board in the top of the sixth, when Coulson White reached on an error, and Luke Griffith followed with a two-run home run.

In addition to Griffith's blast, White, Jake Gray, Austin Ashley and Josh Prince all added singles.

Cameron Corely started and took the loss for Lakeside, and Ashley came in and pitched five innings of relief, striking out five.

The Warriors are now 7-16 on the year and will host Jonesboro-Hodge on Thursday.

Lady Warriors 14, Jonesboro-Hodge 1

The Lady Warriors jumped on Jonesboro early with six runs in the top of the first and then kept the pressure on, winning 14-1.

Emily Robinson had a solid all-around day leading the Lady Warriors.

On the mound she went all five innings to get the win, scattering five hits and striking out two. At the plate, she doubled and drove in two runs.

Ashley Hawkins also had a big day at the plate as she went three-for-four (a single and two doubles) with two RBIs.

Cassie Monday had a pair of hits and three RBIs and Lakeia Lyles singled and drove in three runs. Kim Coleman had two hits, Allie Maness drove in two runs and Emily Maness singled. Paige Osborn walked twice and Madison Mouser and Taylor Doss both scored runs.
