BENTON —The Lakeside Warrior track teams turned in some early season excellent performances at the Benton Relays despite cold, windy conditions.
Chris Lewis, Enrique Soto, and Darryl Moore were first place finishers for the Warrior men.
Lewis sprinted to a 10.57 in the 100 meters. Soto battled with West Monroe's Logan Pearce in the 3200, winning with a 600 meter kick at 9:46. Moore won the long jump with a leap of 20' 4". He also placed second in the 400 running, a personal best time of 51.89 from the eighth lane.
Maurice Moore scored eight points with a third place high jump of 5'10" and a fifth place long jump of 20'0".
Though not placing in the top six, eighth-grader Cody Robinson ran a personal best of 11:19 in the 3200. The Warriors scored 46 points for a sixth place finish.
The ladies were led by Shanae Collins who won the long jump with a leap of 16' 9 1/2". Collins also won the 100 meter dash running a 12.76 in the second heat. Jasmine Turner was the discus champion with a toss of 100' 8". She also placed fifth in the shot at 30'6".
Alissa Landers took second in the 3200 at 12:37. Deedee Quarles concluded the scoring with a fifth place finish in the 100 hurdles at 18:33. The ladies totaled 44 points for a sixth place finish in the 13 team meet.
Next action for the teams will be on Friday, March 8, at the Longview Lobo Relays.
