Lincoln’s Laureate is gone

In my forty years of living in Ruston, there have been two people whose journalistic brilliance held me spell-bound. By soaking up what they do, I have gained insight into how it should be done; how they expertly transfer thoughts and images from the brain and heart through fingertips onto the printed page. Teddy Allen is one; Wiley Hilburn is the other.
Webster defines "laureate" as one "crowned with laurel as a mark of honor." Wiley Hilburn, in my mind's eye, sports a laurel wreath.
