Last week, an unexpected thunderstorm triggered my thoughts of another era. It was an era when I was young and had few worries other than my mom or dad findin' some chore they wanted me to do. They were both good at that, you know.

There I'd be, not botherin' a sole; mindin' my own business; and suddenly, "GALEN! Go slop the hogs!" Or, "Galen, bring the clothes in from the clothes line." Didn't they know I had other things I wanted to do? Of course, it didn't take long for me to realize and recognize the things they did for me. And that was reason enough for me to do as I was instructed.
