Warriors 46, Trojans 56
"Basically, we struggled getting to the basket, and had to settle for outside shots," Lakeside head coach Jason Gould said. "And we did get the ball inside, we couldn't convert. We'll just have to go back to the drawing board, because we have a tough one coming up at Homer on Friday."
The teams were tied 13-13 at the end of the first quarter, but Ferriday out-scored Lakeside by eight (1406) to take a 27-19 halftime lead.
"We let them get to us in the second," Gould said. "But we out-scored them in the third and cut the lead to two points."
Lakeside out-scored Ferriday, 14-8, in the third quarter to draw within 35-33 as the fourth quarter began.
Davian Whiting hit a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter to power Lakeside's comeback. But Ferriday went on an 8-0 run with 1:16 left in the game to pull out the 56-46 win.
"We got it down to two points, but we just struggled in the fourth quarter," Gould said. "And Ferriday made their free throws down the stretch."
Maurice Moore led the Warriors with 12 points and Whiting added 11 (three three-pointers). Nyles Moore scored nine points and Deondre Shehee added eight.
