Hunting season opens with a bang and a whimper

Guys and gals and young'uns; that magic time of year has arrived with a flourish with the opening of dove season this past weekend. Because of the calendar, season didn't open the Saturday before Labor Day since that particular Saturday fell in August and the rules say that dove season can not open before the first day of September. Added to that delay was the fact that opening day featured morning hunting, which also seemed a bit odd.
