Man caught with drugs during random check

Jeremy HamptonMinden Police joined with state Probation and Parole Thursday to arrest a local man on drug charges.

Justin Hampton, 25, of the 700 block of West Street, was arrested for felony possession of CDS Sch. I marijuana, second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chief Steve Cropper said his officers were contacted by Probation and Parole agents Mike Ware and Nancy Blanchard when they were preparing to conduct a random check on Hampton at his residence.

"Once Probation and Parole got there, agents located two bags of suspected marijuana and a set of scales," Cropper said.

Assisting Probation and Parole were Capt. Marvin Garrett, Lt. Dan Weaver, Off. Travis Reed.

Hampton was booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is being housed with no bond.
