Funeral services for Mrs. Gurtha B. Hollingsworth Hall will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Huey P. Roberson officiating. Interment will follow at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
Gurtha B. Hollingsworth Hall was born Sept. 17, 1919 in Delmont, Arkansas to the late Tissie Parker Hollingsworth Frazier and the late Alex Hollingsworth. She was the fifth of nine children born.
She united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age. During her adult years, she served on the usher board until her health prevented her from serving.
Gurtha Hall was married to the late Arthur Hall. To this union five children were born.
She departed this earthly life on May 23 at Minden Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Lugene Cockerham and Arthur Daniel Hall; her siblings, Marshall Gipson, Leslie Hollingsworth, Melton Hollingsworth, Prentiss Hollingsworth, Herbert Hollingsworth, Zona Mae Hollingsworth-Jones, Deatris Hollingsworth and Betty Jean Hollingsworth-Brewer.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Mary Hall Butler of Heflin and Francis Hall Brown (Dino) of Dubberly; one son, Loverne Hall of Bossier City; two daughters-in-law, Joann Hall of Odessa, Texas and Sarah Hall of Minden; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held today (Friday, May 27) in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Services are entrusted to Kennon's Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to email@example.com.Subscribe to Read!
