Minden Police arrested a local man Tuesday in the parking lot of a Homer Road business, after he tried to swallow a marijuana blunt.
Michael Isaac, 18, of the 200 block of Cox Lane, is charged with possession of CDS Sch. I marijuana and obstruction of justice for trying to conceal evidence in reference to the crime for which he was being arrested.
Police Chief Steve Cropper said Isaac was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Ofc. Danny Turner Tuesday around 7 p.m. on Homer Road.
"The driver informed Officer Turner that Isaac had marijuana in his possession," Cropper said.
Isaac was reportedly removed from the vehicle and advised of his rights.
"Officer Turner asked Isaac where the marijuana might be and Isaac said he didn't have any," Cropper said. "But Turner said he could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from Isaac's mouth, so he asked Isaac to open his mouth."
Turner reportedly said he could see a leafy substance inside Isaac's mouth.
"The officer was able to retrieve a portion of what Isaac was trying to swallow," Cropper said. "Isaac admitted he had tried to eat amarijuana blunt, which is a cigar with the tobacco removed and marijuana inserted in its place."
According to the chief, the unidentified driver was not arrested.
