Minden High splits pair with Homer

The Minden High basketball teams split a pair of games with Homer on Friday night.

The Crimson Tide rolled past the Pelicans, while the Lady Tiders fell, 68-46.

Tra Thornton led five Tide players in double figures with 20 points. He also made four three-pointers.

Reggie Seamster added 16 points and Leondre Forbes scored 15. Dominique Walker added 14 and C.J. Elkins had 11.

The Tide trailed 15-14 at the end of the first quarter, but rallied in the second, out-scoring Homer, 19-10, to take a 33-25 lead at the half.

The Tide exploded for 27 points in the third quarter to extend their lead to 60-43 lead into the final quarter. The two teams played almost even (Homer led 24-23) in the fourth quarter to make the final score, 83-67.

Lady Tiders head coach Jacob Brown was not very happy with his team's play.

"We didn't play very well, but we have to keep working and keep persevering through this tough time we're going through," he said. "But ultimatley it's going to be up to the girls as a whole. We have to get back in our groove we were in when we started 7-2."

Carmella Specks led the Lady Tiders with 33 points and Metosha Gill had six. Tyia Green and Shabrie Nelson both added five points.
