SIBLEY — The Lakeside Warriors and the Sterlington Panthers went into extra innings Thursday with the Panthers pulling out the 7-5 win.
"It was a good ball game," Lakeside coach Bob Gray said. "It was tied 5-5 after seven, and Sterlington was able to scratch out a couple of runs in the top of the eight. We had our chances, but it was just one of those things."
Austin Ashley was the tough-luck loser on the mound for the Warriors.
Payton Johnson led Lakeside with a pair of doubles and Josh Prince also doubled. Luke Griffith, Chase Woodall and Jake Gray all added base hits.
The Warriors will host Mangum in a pair of games on Saturday. The junior varsity will play at 11 a.m. and the varsity will follow at 1 p.m.
"Mangum is a good Class A team from eastern Louisiana," Gray said. "It should be a good ball game."
Lakeside is now 5-12 on the year and 0-1 in district.
