Love, true love, is from the Lord, for God is Love (1 John 4:8). Jesus teaches us this in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but shall eternal life". So within the heart of each believer the Love of God resides, stirring up desires to do good things for others. I believe Luke 6:38 can be applicable to love or any aspect of the Christian life: "Give and it shall be given to you, full measure, overflowing, press down and overflowing" Paul teaches us, also, to "love one another".(Gal 5:14, 1Thess 4:12). Yes, love is not really the God-kind-of-love until we give it away.
We have heard this reading through the years and can apply it to this season of celebrating Valentine's Day: A bell is not a bell unless you ring it; And a song is not a song unless you sing it;
And Love isn't Love in your heart to stay - For Love isn't Love, unless you give it away.

Valentine's Day is one of the busiest days for florists; delivering flowers, candies and balloons. Many use these to express love to our loved ones and close friends. With the kind of love God has shown us (while we were yet sinners), we should be a source of this kind of love to others each day.
A little jingle I learned as a kid: "I used to think when I wuz young that gurls wuz sweet as pie; Now when I think of what I thunk, I think I thunk a lie". We know the "Love of God" transcends childish notions and thoughts, even hearts and flowers! Yes, His Love is so wondrous and far-reaching we can only imagine it's total impact. However, we begin to realize it's enlarging scope when we seek to give love away to others - touching, ministry and friendship gestures. Sharing this Supreme love as a means of personal salvation and the only avenue to God the Father - pleases Him greatly.
Remember this dear hymn?
Of the themes that men have known, One supremely stands alone;
Through the ages it has shown, 'Tis His wonderful, wonderful love.
Let the bells of heaven ring, Let the saints their tribute bring.
Let the world true praises sing, For His wonderful, wonderful love.
Since the Lord my soul unbound, I am telling all around;
Pardon, peace, and joy are found, In His wonderful, wonderful love.
Love is the theme, Love is supreme; Sweeter it grows, glory bestows;
Bright as the sun every it glows! Love is the theme, Eternal theme! (Albert Fisher)
Love - God's Love - is not ours until we give it away. Make someone's Valentine Day special!
