Angry man strikes female

Jeremy_GossettPolice arrested a Minden man last week for taking out his anger on his girlfriend and later on a patrol car.

Jeremy Gossett, 28, of the 100 block of Robertson Drive, is charged with domestic abuse battery and felony criminal damage to property.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said the fight between Gossett and the victim came to a head around 4 a.m. Friday.

"Sgt. Wayne Young, Officer First Class Danny Turner and Officer Shawn Jenkins made contact with a female with a busted bottom lip and blood around her mouth," Cropper said. "She indicated that her live-in boyfriend, Jeremy Gossett, had come in after drinking and an argument took place. He began hitting her."

The victim's daughter reportedly left the residence and went to a neighbor's house for help.

"The neighbor came over and took control of Mr. Gossett until officers got there," said the chief. "Once they got there, they advised him of his rights and placed him the back of the patrol unit."

Cropper said Gossett attempted to kick the rear window out of the vehicle.

"He bent the window frame, causing more than $500 in damages," Cropper said.

Gossett was reportedly booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
